Writing a personal ethics statement may seem like a daunting task, but the reality is far different. Agreed, nobody is used to writing about themselves and the beliefs they possess. But this statement is nothing but a reflection of the writer's personality on paper. The writer's ability to distinguish between right and wrong, certain beliefs and opinions are all to be included in this statement that presents your morals and personal philosophies to the reader.


Even though this statement is a reflection of you as an individual, it is still very important to keep in mind the reader who is going to be assessing it. The reader (in most cases, your professor or an admission committee) wants to know all about you in the best-possible way, and the only way to do this is keep your statement simple, emphatic, and honest.

Introduction
There are several ways of beginning your personal ethics statement. You may choose to write a little bit about yourself in order to introduce yourself to your reader. Write about profound moments that you've experienced till now, instances from your life that influenced you, and what you feel makes you a good person. Remember to keep it short though, you wouldn't want to bore the reader with lengthy life stories! Pen down your little autobiography beforehand to avoid a messy start to your statement. For those who aren't really comfortable with writing about themselves in their statement, you may choose to begin with a quote by your favorite author that is in line with what you are going to be writing. You may also begin with the importance of personal ethics. 

Body of the statement
The body of the statement has to include all your core beliefs, your thoughts and opinions about what is correct individual behavior according to you, and reflect your views and philosophies. You may have to follow certain guidelines, depending on the reason why you're writing it, but the core of the essay has to be a reflection of you and your feelings. Here are a few important points to remember when writing the body of the statement.
Personal ethics are beliefs that you base your opinions and actions on. Hence, it is highly recommended that you mention only the ethics that you strongly believe in. In simple words, include only the practices that you unfailingly preach. Anything that is not from your core belief system will make itself apparent and establish itself to be untrue right away. For example, if you aren't a vegetarian yourself but you write about vegetarianism being the need of the day, it will become obvious to the reader that you don't believe what you write, and the concept of a personal ethics statement will become invalid.
Since childhood, you have been taught how to differentiate between right and wrong. Include those morals in your statement, and don't hesitate to provide short justifications for possessing a particular belief. Keep in mind that these beliefs belong to you, and don't exclude any thoughts that you feel may seem unusual to the reader. For instance, if you are strongly against products made from animal hide, include your honest opinion in your statement.
Every statement has its own requirements, and you will have to compile only those ethics that match the nature of the statement. For example, if you are writing this statement as a prerequisite for a scholarship, you will have to write about your personal ethics regarding academics and related activities. In such a case, your views about global warming probably won't help the statement much, unless, of course, you are an environment student!

Finding Student Strengths: Storytelling and Multiple Intelligences

As a professor of arts integration, I often use storytelling as a teaching tool and have recognized that as I demonstrate various methods to tell a story, I use at least one of Howard Gardner's eight multiple intelligences.

Gardner defines an intelligence as the capacity to solve a problem or create a product in a naturalistic setting; in other words, according to Gardner, the question is not whether someone is intelligent, the question is how someone is intelligent. To answer this question, Gardner professes that we all possess eight intelligences, although some of us are more dominant in some than in others. From this, I surmised that every time I diversify my storytelling methods, I am essentially giving my students an opportunity to show me new capabilities and strengths.

Below are eight methods I've used to teach storytelling with examples of how each connects to one of Gardner's eight intelligences.

1. Traditional Storytelling with Words Only: Students tell a story based upon personal experience, poems, songs, or other form of writing. Words act as the centerpiece. This approach interfaces with Gardner's' verbal-linguistic intelligence, which ultimately increases students' opportunities to display the effective use of words and phrases.

2. Movement Stories: Students tell stories in narrative form; however, movements and gestures are seamlessly integrated into the story. This method highlights Gardner's bodily-kinesthetic intelligence as it permits students to demonstrate their skills through the interplay of words and bodily movements.

3. Picture Prompts: Students look at pictures and tell a story contingent upon visual prompts. According to Gardner, this method reflects the visual-spatial intelligence. This technique encourages students to use visual imagery, not only to initiate thinking about the story, but also to craft the story's evolution.

4. Music-Enhanced Stories: Students tell a story accompanied by background music to set the tone or to enhance the mood. This format allows music to assist in facilitating the student's ability to tell the story, which exemplifies Gardner's musical-rhythmic intelligence.

5. Journal or Diary Stories: Students tell a story grounded in personal feelings, ideas, and thoughts from journal or diary entries. Restructuring these entries invites students to think about content introspectively, therefore, this process aligns with Gardner's intrapersonal intelligence.

6. Group Stories: Students tell a story in a group. By placing students in groups to craft a story, students must work cooperatively and collaboratively; as a result, this method demonstrates Gardner's interpersonal intelligence.

7. Fauna and Flora Stories: Students tell a story they've told before, but anecdotes pertinent to nature must be incorporated. Since this approach forces students to become more sensitive to their natural environments, it exhibits Gardner's naturalist intelligence.

8. Object Connections: Students build upon an existing story connected with an inanimate object. This method requires students to not only use previous knowledge, but also to make logical inferences. Since students are showing their ability to establish logical reasoning patterns, this practice fits well into Gardner's logical-mathematical intelligence.

I can't believe how these eight methods of storytelling have made such a difference in how I see my students' intelligences; moreover, my students say they love the challenge of showing off their skills and abilities in more than one way!

Some Basic Laws and Concepts in Electronics

The second law is the voltage law which is abbreviated as KVL and it states that the sum of voltages around a closed loop equals to value of zero. Kirchhoff's laws of current and voltage help in analyzing DC circuits because when one knows that all the voltages in a loop total up to zero and all the currents entering or leaving a node equals to zero, it simplifies the process of learning the values of current and voltage usually. In case a loop has one voltage source and several resistances, one has to use the voltage division to find the voltage drop value across the resistances whose value is known. And it simplifies after that when one finds the voltage as then Ohm's law can be utilized to value of current that flows through the resistance. Also one should keep in mind that the value of resistors in a series is added to give the value of resistance between two nodes. It is explained thus-

(Resistance value in branch no.1) x Resistance in branchno.2/ Sum of resistance in both branches.

DC circuits can also be explained through understanding of few other components of electronics such as current division, nodal and mesh analysis amongst others. They use the concepts of KCL and KVL laws but require proper demonstration.

Thus explained are a few basic and secondary levels of concepts in DC circuit. Electronics have a vast scope in itself and so has circuit theory. In order to understand them properly, one needs to dig deep into proper study and understanding of various concepts.
